This was a fun little event consisting of a six or
seven block parade, with food and craft vendor booths set-up for
the festival.
I trailered my 'naked' M38A1 to Taylor under somewhat ominous
skies. I then met up with a few other club members who
either trailered, towed or drove their vehicles. We all
found the parking lot for staging and signed in. The weather
was very humid but the clouds looked like they were going to break
to some extent.
One of our members, John S made his arrival in grand
style. While backing his M35A2 in the parking lot, I was
headed over to assist him. However, before I could get
there, he backed into a light pole in the parking lot. The
tall light began to sway but never fell. There were a few
car owners who were 'not pleased' but it was pretty funny for
us. The impact did put a nice dent in the pole about six
feet up and unfortunately wedged his tailgate shut. No
problem there as it should bend back easily.
The parade started promptly at the assigned hour and a few of
us carried 'distinguished guests'. I did not. The
parade wandered through the craft and food areas, down Main Street
and concluded by the antique tractor displays. From there,
we headed back to the staging parking lot and parked the
vehicles. Next was the search for food which was successful.
About noonish, the skies began to look threatening so we
decided it was time to load up and head home. While loading,
the rain began but as quick as it started, it was over and only
will force me to wash the jeep due to the little 'spots' it now
has!
Naw. No need to wash it as next weekend is the Georgetown
Air Show and it always rains! LOL..... |
