This annual car show was well attended by Lonestar MVPA
members and vehicles. Each year, the local Sonic Drive-In hosts a
show to raise money for children's shelters. An auction is held in
conjunction with raffle items, dunking booths and food sales.
Preliminary estimates have indicated more money was raised this year then
the previous year.
Toby drove his MB, Scott drove his M38A1, and Barry drove his desert
storm buggy. Danny brought his M151A2/M416, Lewis his M38A1 and Tim
brought his MB. John K brought his daughter for the
festivities. Scott's father brought his Corvette.
In excess of 250 vehicle registrations were recorded. The local
clubs were in full force including the Falcons/Fairlanes, Mustangs,
Corvettes, Dodge Chargers, Model T's, Corvairs and Oldsmobiles.
There were also many individual entries including dragsters, go-carts,
LeMans series racers, street racers, bicycles, fire/emergency vehicles and
others.
Danny was in the "Dunking Booth" for a period of time.
Scott tossed his first of 3 and sunk him. Then the second of 3 and
sunk him at which point the arm on the booth became inoperable.
After some down-time, Scott's 3rd shot missed. Danny enjoyed the
dunking as the temperatures were in the low-mid 90's throughout the
afternoon.
A raffle was held at the conclusion of the event for those
remaining. At stake were five, $100 dollar bills each drawn from the
pool of entries. You had to be present to win. Scott won the
first drawing and Tim the third of which he donated back to the event.
This is a fantastic event every year and supports a good cause. |
