This is the smallest parade/event of the year to attend. To
say the annual Manor Lionsfest parade is a very small parade in a very
small town would be an understatement. To the organizers credit
however, for an event only 3 years old, it has grown albeit a small
amount. Our group met near the Barbwire Bar just on the other side of downtown
Manor about 9:00am. Danny brought his M151A2/M416, I brought my M38A1 and
dad came along as well, Herb drove his GPW with his wife Nikki and her
sister Kelly,
Jeff McD brought his MB along with his friend Theresa and her two kids,
John K brought his MB but had some fuel pump issues prior to the start,
and Claude drove his ambulance from McDade.
Around 10:15, the parade started which consisted of a few floats, two
tractors, a four horses, an old Model T truck and 5 beautiful historic
military vehicles. We had by far the most vehicles of any group and
probably made up 25% of the total parade entries! The parade went up
one street and then back down another and it was over as soon as it
started.
Afterwards, we parked our vehicles along Main Street and all walked
into the town square where we surveyed the various arts and crafts vendors
and BBQ entries for lunch. After finding a suitable purveyor and
securing our food, we sought refuge under a shade tree and ate.
Afterwards, most of the group departed. However, Jeff, Theresa and
her kids stayed a bit longer to enjoy the festivities. |
