Event: Kars for Kids Car Show
Date: 13-May-2000
Location: Sonic Drive-In, Austin Texas
Description: The Kars for Kids Car Show is put on by the local Sonic
Drive-In to raise money for local youth at risk charitable organizations.
This year, the event raised just under $22,000 from a live and silent
auction. The show is not specific to military vehicles. The local
Corvette and Mustang clubs were in full force as were the classic Chevrolets and
Fords. A few race cars of different types were present and several Cobra
427's, Shelbys, 'chopped hot rods, streets and customs. It was a fantastic
day for a fantastic event.

Here's a shot of the M38A1 with
the M3A1 half-track in the background. The half-track is owned by a
club member living South of Austin, North of San Antonio. |

Grill of a MB and the M151A2 -
both club members. |

Another club member has the
distinguished fact of registering the oldest VW in Texas. It's an
original Type 82 Kublewagon (sp?) |
|
Some of the other vehicles
present included a '53 MD-TD kit car (my sisters), a Cobra (sisters
friend) and a 1-owner '65 Corvette (my dads!) |
