The annual Chisholm Trail Roundup parade was held on a
beautiful Saturday morning this year. Last year, it rained
miserably and I rode with another club member in his jeep. With the
threat of Tropical Storm Allison (the 1st of the season) wreaking havoc
on the Texas Gulf Coast, I left the top up on the jeep for this one.
That means leaving the gun and cradle at home. Oh well...
Four club members participated in this event which was a lot of
fun. Danny and I trailered our jeeps from Austin about 25 miles
away, unloaded and staged. When the judges came around, I told
them all about our privately owned historic military vehicles.
They must have been impressed as we won Grand Prize for the Antique
Vehicle Category! (our 3rd or 4th year in a row now)
Also present were Danny and his '70 M151A2, Claude and his '41 Dodge
WC27 Ambulance and Jeff McD and his '45 MB. Jeff also brought a
friend John along for the event. After the parade, we all met at
Black's BBQ which was most excellent. Last year we tried Krietz's
Market and it wasn't that great. On a side note, Lockhart is known
as the "BBQ Captiol of Texas" |
