Another HOT one! In fact so hot, I decided
with my dad today that it was time to take the gun off the jeep
and put up the top when I got home.
We all met at Kaiserville this warm and muggy morning and were
treated to Krispy-Kreme's and hot coffee. With an appointed
departure time of 0800, we headed out South to Lockhart for the
Chisholm Trail Roundup parade.
Included this time were Danny and his M37, me and my dad in my
M38A1, Matt W and his M151A2 (formerly Danny's mutt), Toby and his
MB, Fred and his Navy CJ, Madison and his M37, Rory with his three
kids and his 5-ton, and tail-end-charlie Jeff L with the deuce.
Also participating were Danny's son and three grandkids who came
in for the week preceding the parade.
True to form, as each judges car passed I had to give them each
my 'speech' about the club. I took a lot of razzing from the
guys this time about it and I told them if they wanted me to stop
I would, but when we didn't win anything, it was their
fault. Well, the parade started as a reverse order event and
when we arrived at the official starting point, we were awarded
Grand Champion for the parade. (i think i'll keep up the
speech for the judges)
The temperatures had really begun to climb by now and we
meandered down the various streets and around the
courthouse. There were a LOT of people lining the streets
for this event which made it really worthwhile. We didn't
have any vehicle casualties either.
After the parade, we made our way to Krietzes Meat Market on
the edge of town and were treated to a great lunch of ribs,
sausage, brisket and sides. I don't believe anyone left
hungry.
After a great, relaxing lunch in A/C, we made our way back to
the vehicles, fired them up and headed back to Kaiserville to call
this event "done". Yet another one in the record
books and we look forward to next year. |
