The Far West Blvd. parade is like
any other local neighborhood parade in that there are usually more
participants then spectators. But that doesn't mean anything
- They are still a blast to attend!
Since I still had the jeep on the trailer from yesterday's
Lakeway July 4th parade, I simply trailered the M38A1 from South of town to Far West Blvd
off of MOPAC on the North end of town and unloaded. The
staging area was at Waterline and Far West Blvd. where all the
walking and children participants hang out. I swung by my sisters place and had a great July 4th breakfast and then
loaded up dad John, niece Sarah and her friend Christine.
Once loaded, we took a short block or two trip to line up
behind the other vehicles in their staging area. Around
9:05AM, the parade kicked off with all the walkers, kids, pets etc
going first. Then the vehicles followed in behind.
The 10 block parade route was enjoyable with a fair amount of
patriotic spectators lining both side of Far West Blvd. At
the parade's termination point where there is a large party, we kept going and headed back to
my sisters place to
drop the riders.
The Far West Blvd parade has been in existence since about 1979
or so as best anyone can remember. The parade is local, and
police block Mesa and Farwest Blvd. for the event. Always
on July 4th, 9am, rain or shine!
