A quick series of phone calls the day before this
July 4th event and plans were set into motion for a fellow club
member and I to attend a local July 4th parade. Typically I
participate in the FarWest Blvd July 4th parade, but this one was
closer and seemed like some fun.
Herb and I met at his place and drove over to the staging area
at the local school. A few police officers arrived followed
by a fire truck, but nobody else. The parade was supposed to
start at 10, and about 9:55 is when the Scouts and parents started
to arrive. Once everyone was lined up, we headed out through
the neighborhood and found ourselves at a local park a few miles
away. There, we setup the jeeps under some trees and let the
kids crawl all over them, take pictures etc.
About 2pm things were winding down so we packed up the jeeps
and headed home to clean the candy wrappers and sno-cone juice off
everything. ;-) |
