Event: Monster Truck Show
Date: January 14, 2006
Location: San Antonio, Texas (Alamodome)
Description: Another great Monster Truck Show for the Lonestar MVPA!

This years monster truck show in San Antonio started with Danny, me, Toby, Ray, and John meeting at the Cracker Barrel in Buda for breakfast. Since the Dorsett 221 truck stop was in question as to being open or not, this seemed like the best opportunity to meet, eat
and get ready for the short trip to SA.  After finishing, the group headed South and made their way to the Alamodome parking lot where we were shuffled in right away. Everyone
unloaded their vehicles and I set up some yellow caution tape to insure the trailers could be loaded after the pit party. Erik and Theresa arrived, as did Doak N driving his M35A2 and Chuck B and Ryan in their MB.

This year, we were asked to move the vehicles in prior to registration so we gathered everyone up and staged at the end of the arena.

Still fairly early, we headed over to registration and received our wristbands and tickets for the evenings show. Some departed to Bill Millers for lunch while others brought snacks and ate on the tailgate of the M35A2 or M37.

About 2pm, the crowds began to filter in, then pour in. At times, there were considerable numbers of visitors wanting to have their picture taken in the vehicles, of which I was most happy to oblige.  While I was helping people in and out of his M38A1, the rest of
the group was busy handing out empty shell casings, talking about our club, the formation of a San Antonio chapter and the vehicles to anyone that had questions. About 5:15pm, the pit party was over and the crowds were shuffled out.

This year, we had been asked to participate in a military vehicle parade prior to the start of the event. As we left the pit party, we made it back to our trailers and waited until about 6pm at which point we weaseled our way back to the entrance of the Alamodome and waited.  On cue, we drove in and made one lap with each of the vehicles appearing on the jumbo-tron screens. After departing, we headed back to the trailers and loaded up.

It was fairly simple for all of us to depart this year and only Erik and Theresa stayed for the monster truck show. The rest of including Danny, me, Toby and Ray stopped off at the Cracker Barrel again for dinner, enjoyed a nice meal and were all home at a respectable hour this year.
