Event: Muster Day Activities
Date: 06-Nov-1998
Location: Camp Mabry, Austin Texas
Description: Muster Day is an annual event with traditions that go back to
the pre-republic days of Texas. Originally, on an annual basis there was a
'muster' call to 'muster the troops' to fight for Texas. People would show
up to verify 1) they were alive, and 2) they had a weapon to fight with.
This tradition continued for many years and still continues today with
collectors and enthusiasts bringing uniforms, equipment etc to this location,
setting up and talking about it's history and significance to Texas.
Everything from Civil War through Desert Storm is represented.

Here's the M38A1 for it's first event since
completion. Everything was fine up until the parade of vehicles
where it promptly died in front of the grandstand. As it turns
out, the coil was going bad. After replacement, that gremlin was
eliminated. In the background, you can see a fellow club members
MB/Bantam trailer in addition to our 'field setup' including a tent,
desk etc. |

A fellow club members '52 M38 is on the left of my '53
M38A1. Nice comparison shot of the two versions. |

Here's another shot at Muster Day. You will note
the people in uniforms, the equipment, tanks and re-enactments all in
the background. |
